April 3rd, 2011- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Maryland Terrapins

On a Sunday afternoon, the Maryland Terrapins were held hitless until the seventh inning in a 2-0 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech pitcher Lindsey Anderson allowed her first hit to Vangie Galindo on a ball that deflected off of Anderson and remained near the pitcher's mound. The Terps tried to rally and loaded the bases with two outs, but Marisha Branson, pinch hitting for Kathy McLaughlin, hit into a fielder's choice to seal the win for the Yellow Jackets.

Kendra Knight started for the Terrapins and allowed a two-run home run in the top of the second to Yellow Jackets right fielder Jessica Sinclair. It was the only hit that Knight allowed on the day in a complete game performance. Knight finished with 7 innings, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts and the 1 hit allowed to Sinclair.

The game was a pitcher's duel and while Knight pitched a very good game, the one mistake that she made cost her the win against a strong Georgia Tech team.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are now 31-6 with a 6-0 record against ACC opponents. The Maryland Terrapins are 22-12 with a 2-3 ACC record. The Terps continue their 13 game home stand on Wednesday against Georgetown.
